Both gravel roads are managed and maintained by the Department of Transportation, which provides new gravel bi-annually, pre- and post-winter.

Wildlife & Adventure

Columbia Valley is home to a wide array of wildlife, including big game like the Bighorn Sheep that inhabit Radium Hot Springs to the north, as well as grizzlies, black bear, whitetail deer, and mule deer. Deer are especially prevalent in this area, and you can spot them freely grazing throughout the property

Trumpeter swans, eagles, and many species of ducks and other waterfowl take refuge within Columbia National Wildlife Area.

Wilmer Lake is well stocked with fish and ready for you to drop a line or fly fish (with a permit). No motorized boats are permitted on the lake to preserve the serenity of the area. However, kayaks, SUP boards, canoes, and the like are welcome. The nearby Columbia River that runs along the conservation area also offers fishing for several species of trout.

Columbia Valley is surrounded by the majestic peaks and ridges of the Rockies. Take your pick of hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling adventures among countless mountains. Panorama Mountain Resort is just around the corner as one of the closest skiing, hot pool, hiking, and golfing destinations. Panorama is massive, with ten ski lifts and 120 named trails to explore!

Mountain biking is also a popular activity around here. You can find a range of easy to technical biking trails within the property and almost any nearby park or trailhead.
